TikTok's rating drops drastically after Internet war erupts between influencers of TikTok and YouTube

The short video platform TikTok has seen its rating drop to 1 star from 4.6 stars this past week at the Google App Store following the outbreak of an Internet war between YouTube influencer and TikTok creator in India.
It all started when TikTok creator Amir Siddiqui posted a video on Instagram calling out YouTubers. In his video, Siddiqui accused YouTubers copying TikTok's content and losing out his brand endorsements. Ajey Nagar a famous roaster aslo known as CareyMinati, has publicly accused Siddiqui's video on YouTube, which was later taken down form Youtube because it violated the platform's terms of service.

After Youtube deleted his video, his fans started a trend #RoastNahiFryKarunga and #BanTikTok on Twitter. #BanTikTokInIndia, #TikTokdown, #TikTokexposed were also trending on the micro-blogging platform.

Twitter has seen an explosion of memes targeting TikTok and Amir Siddiqui, urging people to downgrade the app. Several critics of China and TikTok have jumped on the bandwagon calling for a ban on Chinese platform, accusing its creators promoting violence, hatred and acid attacks.

While hashtags called for a ban on TikTok are not new, the latest campaign targeted not only the platform managed by ByteDance but also its creators, who are highly praised in small towns in India. Right-wing activists, including Vikas Pandey, have accused promoting terrorism, converting Muslims and blasphemous videos.

The email sent to TikTok received no response.

TikTok has over 200 million users in India and remains one of the most popular social media apps in the country. It has been downloaded more than 2 billion times worldwidr on the App Store and Google Play, according to the latest Sensor tower Store statistics.
